Together, We Can Transform Emergency Care.
Across hospitals, departments, and disciplines, clinicians are redesigning how emergency care works making it smarter, safer, and more sustainable from the inside out.

What We're Focused On.
Our approach is systems-based, evidence-informed, and clinically led.
These are the key areas where change is already happening and accelerating:
Better Care, Less Waste.
We reduce low-value investigations and treatments that don’t improve outcomes.
More Efficient Systems.
We improve patient flow, reduce delays, and free up clinician time.
Smarter Resource Use.
We cut carbon, reduce medical waste, and align care with what matters.
Health Systems Savings.
We help departments save millions by eliminating inefficiencies protecting frontline services.
Climate Leadership
We reduce the environmental footprint of emergency care while improving resilience.
Empowering Clinicians.
We support staff to lead innovation, improve morale, and build system-wide impact from the ground up.
The SustainED Program.
The SustainED Program is our flagship framework. It’s been tested in hospitals across NSW and is designed to scale globally.
At the heart of the program is the 7Ps Framework, which supports departments to track progress and take action across:
-
Clinical care
-
Staff & culture
-
Waste & supplies
-
Travel & places
-
Energy & infrastructure
-
Communication & recognition
-
Public engagement
Departments progress through practical phases, with built-in incentives, leadership support, and measurable outcomes.
This is Already Happening.
From glove reduction campaigns to low-waste clinical workflows, teams are proving what’s possible when sustainability is led by care, not compromise.

Introducing
BEACON-EM
BEACON-EM: Climate Intelligence from the Frontline
Emergency departments are often the first to see the health impacts of extreme weather from heat stress and smoke inhalation to trauma from floods and fires. But these signals rarely make it into national policy or early warning systems.
BEACON-EM is changing that.
It’s a global sentinel network turning frontline data into real-time climate-health intelligence empowering EDs to protect patients and communities before, during, and after climate emergencies.
Built by clinicians, scientists, and system leaders, BEACON-EM connects emergency care with predictive tools, co-designed resilience strategies, and global collaboration.
